Hi! I, too, changed race on Saturday.
Actually, it was something I've been gradually coming to see, since the awful day Democracy was murdered, when I realized that I'm blacker than Clarence Thomas. Never mind that I have auburn hair, green eyes, and fish belly pale skin. I am obviously black.
It will probably come as a shock to my birth family (who all voted for The Pretender.) But then again, I've always been the black sheep in that family, so, maybe not! <g>

[DIVA NOTE: COME ON, ROBIN… EVERYBODY IS BLACKER THAN CLARENCE THOMAS!]

Tammy,
I will follow your lead and also renounce my race. I certainly do not want anyone to think that I have anything, I repeat anything, in common with the likes of Ashcroft, Lott, DeLay, Helms, Robertson or Duke.
I just wish there was a way to get Phyllis Schlafly to renounce her sex!
Thank you for the nifty racial identification card. It'll come in handy.
Linda from Sonoma County
[The Diva replies:
Dear Linda:
I've thought about your e-mail, and I think the compelling factor in the Schlafly issue is that she isn't human. She is a monster. If she were a human female, it might reflect badly on us, but since she is not, I think we have nothing to worry about.]

Now I know why I've passionately loved jazz for decades. I'm black! Free at last, free at last, from the bonds of up-tightey whiteness. I can't say how many times I've felt admiration toward blacks for their courage and their community, and felt a twinge of sadness at not finding the same community in white America. I stand in solidarity with the Florida fourteen who dared to defy the howling mob for us, against tyranny. We SHALL overcome, some day.

Dear Diva,
Just happened on your site today while browsing the web and wish I had found it earlier.
I, too, guess I am black. They appear to be the only ones standing up to this unfairness.
Thanks for the info and your site.
Linda, Miami, Florida
[DIVA NOTE: YEP, LINDA, YOU'RE BLACK. THE MEDIA SAID SO, AND SO DOES THE DIVA. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!]
