Hi,
I came across your website from onlinejournal.com. I read through the article and wanted to let you know about my recent experience with MBNA.
After watching the bankruptcy bill get shoved through, then hearing that MBNA had a hand in getting this through, I was pissed. I know that other credit card companies probably had a hand in this but MBNA seems to be the main perpetrator. So I did what I had to, and cleared the account.
When I called, I got "Due to high call volume..." (sound familiar). After 15 min (better than Green Mountain Energy, but hey, MBNA probably has more money) I got the customer service representative. I explained I wanted to close the account, then waited for "Why do you want to close it?" I politely and calmly explained that because her company had sponsored a presidential candidate that I felt did not belong in office and because they had a hand in pushing through the bankruptcy bill that I felt was not correct, I was no longer doing business with them and taking my business elsewhere. She explained to me that she could transfer me to an extension to answer these issues. I explained that I was not interested in their explanation and that I would vote with my dollars since that's what seems to count. That was the end of that and we closed out the account.
I have been telling my friends that if they do not like what's been done, vote with your dollars. That's what corporations listen to. Will the loss of my account make a dent in their bottom line. No, not by itself. But if websites like yours keep putting the word out that together we CAN make a dent in their bottom line.

Republican Compassionate Conservatism: Thoughts to ponder.
1. REPUBLICANS GIVE TO THE POOR: I heard a republican give advice to a poor homeless man the other day: "Get a job you bum."
2. REPUBLICANS CARE FOR CHILDREN: Everyone knows the republicans care about children all the way from conception to birth.
3. REPUBLICANS HELP THE UNEMPLOYED: Just yesterday I read in the paper that Bush had gotten jobs for the children of justices, Thomas, Scalia and Rehnquist.
So all of you, just stop saying that the republicans are not compassionate and show everyone just how compassionate they really are.

AOL CENSORSHIP REPORT By Robin C.
I just posted 13 brief messages on the AOL "Bush Presidency" board. Each was labeled "Facts1:xxx", "Facts2:xxx"; etc., with a brief topic, and each included a brief selection from The Nation's article about the Florida election's mismanagement and disfranchisement of voters. In each case, I presented the URL/link and used ellipses and quote marks accurately to show that material had been deleted before and after the quotation. Every single one was removed within two minutes, and I never got an e-mail about why. However, I did get an Instant Message telling me that my FACTS had all been removed....the way the IM was worded, I inferred that the person who IM'ed me was also the board monitor who'd removed the posts (the time was too short for anyone else to have complained, waited for the response, and then written me).
So I switched to doing something similar, but creating totally distinct titles, and actually taking the time to re-write the paragraphs so that I was quoting nothing. And THEY were instantly removed. I'm serious. There were no insults, no name-calling, no accusations. That article from "The Nation" is carefully worded. Just facts; just good reporting.
Somebody is genuinely engaging in real censorship.
Remind you of a Third World military dictatorship? Maybe China? Hitler's Germany?
