Mr. Bush,
I have read that you are no longer encouraging the formation of a "voting rights panel" or committee on electoral reform. I must advise you that, if you persist in this point of view, it would be a public relations nightmare for you.
You must know that hundreds of thousands of minority people felt disenfranchised from voting in the last election (the one result of which is your receiving this email at the white house).
For you to rescind any support for a committee to investigate looks like you have something to hide. Now we both know that's not true (don't we?), but remember, in politics, appearances are everything.
you would look like a sneak and fraidy-cat who doesn't want the truth to come out. You would look like a man fearful of the honest votes of the American people. You would look like a white man keeping black, Latino and Jewish citizens oppressed so your rich white friends can plunder America.
We don't want you to look like that, do we? No, we don't.
So I strongly urge you to encourage, nay, demand that the Senate Judiciary Committee continue in the formation and implementation of a committee on electoral reform.
You would look like a hero! And that's what we want, isn't it?
