Weinburger's trial was to begin on January, 6, 1993.

ACTIVISM ALERT: MEDICAL PRIVACY CONTACT HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Submitted By The ACLU
TO: ACLU Action Network FR: Jared Feuer, Internet Organizer DT: March 13, 2001
The Department of Health and Human Services last year issued long-sought medical privacy protections in federal law. Although the HHS regulation did not go as far as thousands of ACLU activists and other privacy advocates had hoped -- particularly in the area of law enforcement -- the regulation represented an important first step toward ensuring patient privacy for all Americans.
Unfortunately, after strong industry-led efforts, the new Bush Administration has decided to reopen the regulation to comments, thus threatening to delay or weaken these important protections.
Take Action! It is imperative that the Department of Health and Human Services hear from you during this new comment period. By following the link from our action alert, you can take the steps necessary to tell HHS to protect medical privacy and, for extra credit, urge your Members of Congress to protect the regulation. http://www.aclu.org/action/medprivacy107.html
