The Diva's Open Letter to Al Gore,
Vice President of the United States
Dear Vice President (and in my view, President-Elect) Gore:
I just watched your concession speech, and I am weeping as I write this. My respect and admiration for you are boundless. The beauty, the eloquence of your words, have shaken me to my core. I cannot fathom the character that must be required to deliver a concession speech of such magnanimity, especially under these circumstances. You are a great man, and a great American.
The poetry and majesty of your speech will be enshrined for all eternity in the hearts of Americans and the world. For those of us who are certain you are the rightful winner of this election, our support for you can only grow to boundless proportions. We will never forget what you have sacrificed in accepting the denial of what is rightfully yours. This is our solemn vow to you.
In the coming years, many may forget, but we never will. As patriots, we will fight to ensure that the voice of the people from now and forever forward is heard, heeded and honored. We will devote ourselves to the principle of full participation for all our nation's citizens. We will work tirelessly to comfort those afflicted by the current election realities. We will labor to the limits of our talents and energy to make the promise of American democracy a reality.
You have often said that you would fight for us. We intend to continue to fight for you, and for the American people you serve so selflessly.
