LONG BEACH (gorewon2000.net) - John Ashcroft, His Fraudulency's pick for Attorney General, makes his wishes public. He wants Senators with doubts about his ability to "serve the country in the capacity in which he [or she] has been nominated," his past "assertions" or future "effectiveness," to "vote against the nomination."
John Ashcroft stunned the political world today, with his demand that Senators vote against his nomination.
In a his statement, Ashcroft admitted,
"As a member of the United States Senate, I take my Article II, Section 2 advise and consent responsibilities very seriously. In general, I believe the President should have broad latitude to appoint those individuals who he believes can best represent the nation's interests at home and abroad. At the same time, I will not hesitate to withhold my support for any nominee who I believe is unable to serve the country in the capacity in which he or she has been nominated."
He went on to say, "As you all have no doubt heard, through media reports, and transcripts released of my remarks at a certain institution of higher learning, I am a Christian. As you all are also now aware, I am an American, which makes me a royal subject of Jesus Christ. As such, I am commanded to follow his teachings."
"With this in mind," he continued, " I must bring to your attention the biblical passage Matthew 7:12, 'The Golden Rule,' in which Jesus states: "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."
"As you know," Ashcroft asserted, "I consider obedience to biblical law a personal duty and a spiritual joy. I have also always considered it part of my duties as a Senator 'to withhold my support for any nominee who I believe is unable to serve the country in the capacity in which he or she has been nominated.'"
"I have gone on written record," he elaborated, "opposing the nomination of a particular candidate because 'I had serious questions about several of [his] Dr. Foster's assertions, as well as some concerns about his ability to provide an effective voice.'"
"I know many Senators of both political parties have similar reservations about me, and about supporting my nomination to the office of Attorney General of the United States, based on my past assertions," Ashcroft admitted. "Some of these assertions, no doubt, now lead them to question my ability to serve, and my likely effectiveness."
"I realize now," Ascroft confessed, "that my actions in the Foster matter are clear indications of my wishes in the case of my own nomination. I could not have opposed Dr. Foster in the manner that I did, and voted against him, had I not wanted Senators to do exactly the same thing to me."
"I am sure you can all see where I am going with this," Ashcroft concluded, "I stand before you today to ask all Senators, of either party, who harbor any doubts about any assertions I have made in the past, about my capacity to serve as Attorney General because of these statements, or about how these assertions will impact my future effectiveness, to vote against my nomination." "I would ask," he said with a smile, "that they do unto me as I have so often done unto others."
