Dear Tammy,
How about "WHORPORATE GOVERNMENT"? Or "PROSTITICS"? And W could be the "PRICKTATOR".
Sorry. That's getting vulgar. But really, how do you describe a political machinery that tramples the greatest democracy of the modern era without getting vulgar? They are, after all the most vulgar of the vulgar.
I was 8 years old when President Kennedy was assassinated. I was 46 when democracy was assassinated. Though we may never know the full depth and breadth of the conspiracy that brought about the murder of John F. Kennedy, we know precisely who is responsible for this latest assault on the will of the American voters: the Bush's, Katherine Harris, and the Filthy Five.
In the movie "Judgment at Nuremburg" there is a pivotal scene near the end that illustrates perfectly how the fall of justice begins with a single act. Burt Lancaster plays a German judge who has just been sentenced to prison following a controversial trial where many thought that the prosecutors where reaching too far by going after the judges, politicians, and doctors who in one way or another supported or encouraged the environment that made it possible for someone like Hitler to gain power. In his cell following his sentencing he is talking to the judge from his trial played by Spencer Tracey. It had come out at trial that one of his crimes was that he sent an old Jewish man to a concentration camp for consorting with an Aryan girl.
He admitted that at the time he was not concerned with the man's innocence or guilt. That he had already made up his mind that for the good of his country, the man would be found guilty of a law that was itself a crime. I can't remember exactly how he made sense of that, but that is basically what his reasoning was. From his cell, he told the judge from his trial (played by Spencer Tracey) that he had no idea how it was that things evolved into concentration camps and mass murder. He is clearly guilt-ridden and remorseful, but the judge offers him no comfort for his tortured soul. The Nuremburg Judge, who is an American, says to the German Judge, now a convicted war criminal, "It began the day you sentenced an innocent man to his death."
I was taught growing up that I lived in the greatest country in the world because it was founded by brilliant and brave individuals that revered its citizenry and "justice for all" more than its politicians, by making them, the people, the final arbiters of who their leaders would be. I was told that government for the people, and by the people, was the greatest indicator of an advanced civilized society.
So in light of these last few months it is a fair question to ask, just what do we call this NEW system of government where the people's votes are thrown in the garbage, not counted, or forged? Just how do we address a system where the highest justices in the land rule that regardless of the law, and regardless of what is right and just, that the Presidency will be handed to THEIR choice, and not the people's?
Resistance fighter,
Hugh N.
